Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD  is a renowned world expert on trauma and

is the founder and medical director of the Trauma Centre in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Dr. Van Der Kolk is professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine

and director of the National Complex Trauma Treatment Network.

Bessel's book, The Body Keeps The Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the

Healing of Trauma, uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes

both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement,

self-control, and trust.  Dr. Van Der Kolk explores innovative treatments – from neurofeedback

and meditation, to sports, drama and yoga.  These treatments offer new paths

to recovery by activating the brain’s natural neuroplasticity.  Used in conjunction with

Psychotherapy, these alternative treatments offer new hope to clients

who want to recover and reclaim their lives.
